The premise

Why most English learning fails.

Apps will give you an 800-day streak and you still won't be able to order coffee. Tutors charge for an hour you don't have, every week, forever. And nobody — not the apps, not the tutors — actually shows you whether you're improving.

Nuance is built around the thing everyone forgot to sell: evidence that you're getting better.

That's it. That's the whole pitch. Everything below is just a different dose of it.

Four ways in

Pick your level of commitment.

Same teacher, same standards, different intensities. Start anywhere. Move up or down whenever life changes.

Focused Fixed end date Real outcome

30-Day Campaigns

A structured 30-day program with a specific goal. Daily exercises, AI-marked submissions, and one live 25-minute checkpoint with me at the end. You finish with a real result and a certificate. Apps don't have an end. Campaigns do.

  • Job Interview English — walk in confident, walk out with the offer
  • Email English for Professionals — stop second-guessing every "Best regards"
  • B2 Oral Exam Prep — sound like the score you want
  • More launching every month
Subscription Lowest commitment Maximum accountability

Proof of Progress

For people past the basics who just need someone to notice. One structured task per week — speaking sample, writing prompt, comprehension exercise. AI-drafted feedback, personally reviewed and signed off by me. Once a month, a 25-minute call where I show you exactly where you've improved (and where you've plateaued, honestly).

  • Weekly task with personalised feedback
  • Monthly 25-min live checkpoint
  • Monthly written progress report
  • The Vault included free
Memory layer For active and former students

The Vault

Every word you've struggled with. Every mistake you've made. Every phrase I've ever taught you. All of it, searchable, forever. Apps don't remember you. I do — and now you can ask the system anything. "Show me every time I got 'do' and 'make' wrong." "What was that idiom from October?"

  • Searchable archive of every lesson, drill and correction
  • Ask-your-history queries powered by AI
  • Yours forever, even after you stop studying
  • Free with active Lessons or Proof of Progress subscription

About the teacher

Half a career in adult learning. Now applied to English.

I'm HP. British-French dual national, born in the UK, now based just outside Paris. For six years I was a Learning & Development Specialist at Co-op Insurance — designing and running programs that taught adults how to actually do their jobs better. That's where I learned what makes adult learning stick, and what makes it fail.

Before and after the corporate years, I had the kind of varied career most English teachers don't: 3D artist for UK architects, technician at Samsung, pub manager, brewer, bespoke dyer at a Paris atelier, assistant director at Lidl. Five different jobs. Five different vocabularies. I can probably teach yours.

When I left the corporate world to teach English, I didn't want to do it the way it's usually done. So I built Nuance instead — a system around how adults actually learn, with the rigour of six years in L&D and none of the tutoring-platform middleman nonsense.

No quotas. No algorithm. Just one teacher, one platform, and a lot of opinions about what works.

Honest answers

Questions you might be having.

How is this different from Preply or italki? +
Those are marketplaces. You're shopping a catalog of teachers, the platform takes a cut, and lessons are the only product. Nuance is one teacher with a system designed to actually track and prove your progress — and lessons are just one of several ways to work with me.
How is this different from Duolingo or Babbel? +
Apps are great for vocabulary drilling and feeling productive. They are not great at teaching you to actually use the language, give you accountability, or show you whether you're really improving. Nuance is the opposite end of that spectrum: a real human, real feedback, real evidence.
I'm a complete beginner. Where do I start? +
Lessons. Beginners need a teacher more than anything else. Once you're at A2 or B1, the subscription and campaigns become useful additions.
I just want to maintain the English I already have. Where do I start? +
Proof of Progress. It's exactly what it's built for — staying sharp without the time commitment of weekly lessons.
Can I combine products? +
Yes. Lots of students do — for example, monthly lessons plus the Proof of Progress subscription, or a campaign while keeping their weekly lessons going.
What's your cancellation policy? +
Subscriptions: cancel anytime, no questions, no fee. Lessons: lessons paid for and not yet taken are always refundable. Campaigns: refundable in the first 7 days.
Do you teach other languages? +
Not yet. English only, for now.
Is my data private? +
Yes. Your lessons, your homework, your progress — all stored on my own server, not sold to anyone, not used to train AI models, deleted on request.
