I'm HP. British-French dual national, born in the UK, now based just outside Paris. For six years I was a Learning & Development Specialist at Co-op Insurance — designing and running programs that taught adults how to actually do their jobs better. That's where I learned what makes adult learning stick, and what makes it fail.
Before and after the corporate years, I had the kind of varied career most English teachers don't: 3D artist for UK architects, technician at Samsung, pub manager, brewer, bespoke dyer at a Paris atelier, assistant director at Lidl. Five different jobs. Five different vocabularies. I can probably teach yours.
When I left the corporate world to teach English, I didn't want to do it the way it's usually done. So I built Nuance instead — a system around how adults actually learn, with the rigour of six years in L&D and none of the tutoring-platform middleman nonsense.
No quotas. No algorithm. Just one teacher, one platform, and a lot of opinions about what works.
